Bonny Light Crude Oil (BLCO)
Bonny Light is a high-quality, light sweet crude oil produced in Nigeria's Niger Delta, named after the city of Bonny. Its primary advantage is its low sulfur content (around 0.14%) which reduces corrosion in refinery equipment and results in fewer harmful emissions from the refining process along with its low density and high API gravity (around 35–37), making it highly desirable to refineries for producing high yields of gasoline, jet fuel, and other middle distillates with less environmental impact. It is a preferred crude for global energy markets due to its high quality and favorable refining characteristics. Bonny Light is produced by NNPC Limited and its joint venture operators in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
